Innovative Technology,
Delivering Ultimate Sound and Comfort
The KD-Q1 is a product developed based on the technology that KuraDa has cultivated over the years. It embodies the philosophy of "Always be innovative" and is designed with the theme of "Solid and Sturdy". It meets all the elements required of headphones at a high level, including sound quality, durability, and wearing comfort.

AWARD
Quad-Chamber Acoustic Architectur

KD-Q1 adopts a unique design philosophy known as Quad-Chamber Acoustic Architecture, where four chambers are sequentially structured to precisely control airflow at each stage.
Rather than pursuing mere openness, KD-Q1 is designed based on the belief that accurately managing the behavior of air movement across different frequency bands is essential for achieving ideal acoustic reproduction.
While recognizing that the materials and drive mechanisms of diaphragms play a significant role in sound expression, we believe that the ultimate quality of sound is determined by the precision of spatial design and airflow control.
Built upon this philosophy, KD-Q1 meticulously manages the flow and control of air through its chambers and acoustic filters, delivering a natural and richly textured listening experience.
The diagram below illustrates the structure around the baffle and the relationship among the chambers.

■Detailed Roles of Each Chamber
① Micro Front Chamber (Front of the Driver Unit)
This is the smallest space immediately in front of the diaphragm.
The driver unit is sealed instantaneously by a Dynamic Seal Ring and a Pressure Balance Gasket, while an acoustic filter precisely smooths high-frequency peaks before transmitting the sound pressure into the 2nd chamber.
This initial chamber forms the basis for clear low-frequency reproduction and high-frequency response.
② Main Front Chamber
The primary space between the ear and the baffle.
It is smoothly connected to the 1st chamber through the acoustic filter, ensuring a natural pressure gradient.
The air vibrations in this space directly drive the eardrum, shaping the tonal texture, imaging, spaciousness, and natural localization of sound.
③ Vented Buffer Chamber (Low-Frequency Pressure Control Space)
The 3rd chamber is connected to the 1st chamber through the urethane sponge ring and to the 2nd chamber through the inner side acoustic filter of the earpad, enabling controlled pressure release.
Within this chamber, two rectangular ports located at the bottom of the baffle allow efficient airflow escape, particularly for low-frequency components (approximately 60Hz and below) that exhibit large, rapid movement.
This structure effectively suppresses excessive low-frequency peaks, delivering a tight and natural low-end response.
④ Driver Rear Chamber
The 4th chamber is fluidly connected to the 3rd chamber through the baffle’s acoustic filter and features an integrated honeycomb mesh vent behind the driver unit.
It properly releases the rear pressure of the driver while suppressing unwanted resonances, stabilizing the diaphragm motion and contributing to wideband, distortion-free high-quality sound reproduction.
■Role of the Acoustic Filter
In the KD-Q1, multiple layers of acoustic filters made from polyester fiber are placed around the diaphragm.
These filters possess airflow characteristics that vary with flow velocity, allowing slower-moving air (primarily mid-to-high frequencies) to pass through while resisting rapid, large-amplitude movements (primarily low frequencies).
Through this mechanism, the filters achieve:
-
Smoothing of ultra-high-frequency peaks
-
Damping of driver-specific mid-high frequency resonances
-
Suppression of high-frequency leakage from the rear side
By optimizing airflow between the chambers for each frequency band, the KD-Q1 reduces listening fatigue, enables smooth spatial reproduction, and achieves natural localization.
Furthermore, excessive low-frequency pressure peaks are finely controlled through the combination with the baffle’s bottom vent structure, ensuring a well-balanced overall acoustic performance.

Ultra-Responsive Diaphragm
(URD Driver)
The KD-Q1 is equipped with a 53mm dynamic driver called the "URD Driver". Using a thin PET diaphragm and OFC voice coil, it achieves light weight and high responsiveness, significantly improving the characteristics of the low-frequency range.
Key features include:
■Lightweight Diaphragm
The PET diaphragm is made very thin, achieving both light weight and high responsiveness.
■OFC Voice Coil
The adoption of the OFC voice coil increases the mass of the vibration system, lowering the f0, while the thin diaphragm minimizes the increase in mass, balancing the overall weight and damping ratio. The OFC voice coil has about 30% higher conductivity than CCAW (Copper Clad Aluminum Wire) voice coils, leading to better responsiveness due to lower resistance.

3D-Sewing Earpads
The KD-Q1's earpads are entirely sewn by skilled artisans in Japan. These 3D-sewn earpads are crafted by cutting low-resilience urethane into three-dimensional shapes and ergonomically designed to naturally fit the head. Thanks to Japan's exceptional craftsmanship, the earpads effectively minimize sound leakage and evenly distribute pressure, providing an excellent acoustic experience. Additionally, the parts that touch the ears are made from highly durable protein leather, ensuring lasting comfort even during extended use. This design, which combines the quality and craftsmanship of Japan, achieves both comfortable wear and balanced sound performance.

Adoption of
3D Printing Technology
The KD-Q1 is the first KuraDa product to adopt 3D printing technology. Compared to traditional SM technology (Subtractive Manufacturing), AM technology (Additive Manufacturing) offers a high degree of design freedom, making it possible to manufacture products with complex internal structures.
■3D Printing with HP Jet Fusion
The parts of the KD-Q1 are manufactured using HP's Multi Jet Fusion method. This technology sprays high-precision liquid agents onto powder material, forming layers by adding heat. This allows for the mass production of complex-shaped parts quickly and with high precision.
■Adoption of PA12GB for the Housing Material
The KD-Q1 uses PA12GB (polyamide 12 glass bead filled) material. This material, which contains 40% glass beads based on PA12, has high tensile strength and durability, maintaining its performance even after long-term use. It also shows resistance to chemicals, lightweight properties, and excellent vibration absorption.
