Radical Open Architecture
Developed in 2015 based on insights gained from the OR12 prototype, the KD-P1 was designed with production feasibility in mind.
Its housing and frame were precision-machined entirely from A7075 super-duralumin, and its iconic silhouette and expansive soundstage left a lasting impression. The bold open-back construction enabled a speaker-like spatial presentation rarely found in headphones.
The 53mm dynamic driver, custom-developed for the KD-P1, was engineered specifically to overcome the challenges of low-frequency reproduction in a fully open design.
Its exceptional performance led to its refinement and reapplication in the KD-Q1 as the URD (Ultra-Responsive Diaphragm) driver.
The KD-P1 embodies KuraDa’s early engineering values and craftsmanship, and with its daring acoustic architecture and distinctive presence, it remains one of the brand’s most iconic creations to this day.
